On the British crown side, jewelry is more than a family affair. These are secrets of history. The Royal Family of England owns a colossal jewelry box that is priceless. Pearl necklaces, tiaras, and other tiaras, earrings, and engagement rings have become legendary. Most of them were made by Garrard & Co, appointed official jeweler to the crown by Queen Victoria in 1843. We will discuss some of The Most Beautiful Jewels Worn by Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen Mary Fringe Tiara:

It is one of those jewels that pass down from generation to generation among the women of the royal family of England. The Queen Mary Fringe Tiara was designed for Queen Mary of Teck in 1919. The jewel resembles a semi-circle embellished with 47 vertical bars set with diamonds.

Mary of Teck chose to bequeath it to her daughter-in-law Queen Elizabeth, also called Queen Mother. Moving from one crowned head to another, Queen Elizabeth entrusts the tiara to her daughter, the current Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

The Queen Mary Fringe tiara then adorned the monarch’s head on her wedding day to Prince Philipp in 1947. Her Majesty also wore the splendid tiara during a trip to Iceland in 1990.  Consequently, there she met President Vigdís Finnbogadottir. He was the world’s first woman whom direct universal suffrage elected.

Queen Elizabeth II will perpetuate the family tradition by in turn entrusting the diamond jewel to her only daughter, Princess Anne, for her wedding ceremony. The tiara significantly crosses generations and happy events. On July 17, 2020, Princess Beatrice was crowned with the tiara for her wedding ceremony.

Prince Albert’s sapphire brooch:

In the year 1840, Prince Albert of Saxe-Cobourg-Gota presents a brooch to Queen Victoria on the eve of their wedding. “A magnificent sapphire and diamond brooch,” the Prince’s wife noted on the pages of her diary. The jewel pleases her so much that the next day, she accessorizes her wedding dress with it. In addition, you should know that the couple was the first to stay at Buckingham Palace.

The Azure Brooch is explicitly now in the possession of the working monarch. Elizabeth II seems to have a great affection for the jewel of her great-great-grandmother. The proof, she wears it during important events like the evening of a certain June 5, 1961.

It was during dinner with the couple consisting of John Fitzgerald and Jackie Kennedy in Buckingham. The queen wears a blue evening dress to match her precious brooch. However, a scene that we were able to relive recently in the series The Crown.

The imperial ceremonial crown:

2,868 diamonds, 273 pearls, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, and 5 rubies. It is the total of precious stones that adorn the imperial ceremonial crown.  In addition to its glittering details, the jewel’s hat is covered in a purple-colored velvet and an ermine outline. This craftsmanship? We owe it to the mythical crown jeweler  Garrard & Co. He made the Imperial State Crown in 1937, on the occasion of the coronation of George VI.

It is an exact replica of the crown created a century earlier for Queen Victoria. Except for the fact that it weighs less. Sixteen years after her father, it is Elizabeth II’s turn to take possession of this exceptional halo. June 2, 1953. Elizabeth II accedes to the throne following the death of her father. That day, in Westminster Abbey in London, the 25-year-old monarch inherited the crown.

This being part of the Crown Jewels, in other words, the pieces to be worn during official ceremonies for the sovereigns of the United Kingdom, the Queen of England will use it every year at the opening of Parliament. ..at least until 2015. For the record, this crown weighs almost a kilo!

The Grand Duchess Vladimir tiara:

It’s not a legend. The jewels of the Queen of England have witnessed historical facts, some of them epic, and this is the case of the Grand Duchess Vladimir Tiara.

The diamond-paved tiara was purchased in 1921 by Queen Mary of Teck, wife of George V. But before arriving in the royal jewelry box, the jewel first belonged to Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia who had received it from her husband, as a wedding gift.

Then comes the adventure. During the Russian Revolution, the jewel was stolen by a British secret agent named Albert Stopford. A destiny is worthy of a suspense film scenario.

This tiara is composed of interlacing diamonds loaded with pearls. These can be replaced with emeralds. The Queen of England inherited it in 1953, after the death of her paternal grandmother Mary de Teck. Lilibet – this is the nickname that George VI gave to his daughter – wears the  Grand Duchess Vladimir Tiara most often on the occasion of banquets.

The Cullinan V Brooch:

Queen Elizabeth II reportedly owns nearly 100 brooches. Like the hat, it is one of the accessories that the sovereign is particularly fond of. Among these is the Cullinan V brooch.

The platinum accessory is edged with diamonds. His most precious detail? In the middle of the brooch, an 18.8-carat diamond cut in the shape of a heart. This jewel is also cut in the same stone as two other Cullinan brooches: the Cullinan III and Cullinan IV. All were imagined for Queen Mary. When he died, his granddaughter Elisabeth II inherited it. The Cullinan V brooch has been grafted onto the Queen of England’s garments on numerous occasions. In 1982, during his first royal visit to Tuvalu, a state of the Commonwealth realm.

In 69 years of reign, each of her public appearances has demonstrated her interest in fashion. Four years ago,  Elizabeth II even attended her first fashion show. And her diamond brooch accompanied her to the front row of the Richard Queen show!
