STEVE HARVEY REVISES A $20 MILLION IRS BILL, SAYING ACCOUNTANTS WERE CHASING CHECKS BUT’KEEPING THE MONEY’
About Steve Harvey
Steve Harvey has the kind of career that most entertainers wish for, but the stand-up comedian hasn’t always had it easy.
In 2008,
the game show host and Miss Universe Pageant host got into difficulties with the IRS, owing the agency $22 million. “When my accountant died, a subordinate accountant called my lawyer and said, ‘We have an issue,'” he explained in the interview. “She discovered all of my tax forms for the previous seven years on the floor, signed and stapled together with the checks.” “They were cashing the checks, keeping the money, and not filing the tax returns,” Harvey continued. They didn’t cash it; instead, they stole money from the account with the exact same number.”
Harvey told Yahoo News
This broke the story about his tax problems in 2016, that the incident occurred shortly after he married Majorie. He was worried that he’d misplaced his wife and belongings. “I sat my wife down and she cried, and I embraced her and assured her everything was all right; I was going to get us out,” Harvey explained.
Harvey’s big reason of signing contracts
Harvey said he took every job and contract offered to him in order to pay off the debt, grinding until a “major transaction” came through in 2012 that allowed him to pay it off.
He has had a morning radio show and a midday discussion show since his last stand-up performance in 2012. H.Steve presently has his own court show and has presented the Miss Universe Pageant for the past six years. The Family Feud host has also written several books about relationships, including Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, which has been adapted into two films starring Kevin Hart.
Harvey is now wealthy over $200 million and continues to make headlines, telling rapper Kanye West that he can “pull up” after West suggested he can “afford to damage” Harvey’s pal and fellow King of Comedy D.L. Hughley.
