Postpartum depression is a stressful condition that women suffer for several months after giving birth. It is a condition in which women assume many things that have nothing to do with the reality. Some women can be extremely aggressive on silly things or some can be quiet. Well, that’s not their fault at all, but that’s the condition that is not under their control.

How does it happen?

When a woman gives birth to a child, many hormones get release and reduce in number that cause decrease in hormones, neurotransmitters and other body nutrients which in turn disturbs all the hormones of a woman and causes postpartum depression.

While suffering from postpartum depression, women might suffer from some behavioral issues. Such as:

  1. Misconceptions:

Women can build an unrealistic scenario about several things and people. She might think of everyone as her enemy.  Might be doubtful about her spouse’s attention, care and love or get aggressive on small things.

  1. Possessive for baby:

She can get extra possessive and caring about her child. Might think that her baby is not safe in the arms of others or get offended.

  1. Sadness:

Other than aggressiveness, some women can also feel sad and lonely. These kinds of women are seen crying somewhere in the home. They feel like nobody loves her. They don’t feel pleasure in doing anything at all.

  1. Loss of appetite:

Loss of appetite is another factor that might fuel postpartum depression. Women eat less or don’t eat at all, the whole day. Because of their unrealistic negative thoughts, they suffer from feeling of nausea that doesn’t allow them to eat.

  1. Loss of sleep:

Most women can suffer from insomnia as well which is a condition lacking desire for sleep.  Less sleep also contributes in developing stress and ultimately depression.

Conclusion:

Postpartum depressioncauses many changes in women. Some face feelings of excitement and joy while, on the other hand, some women might feel anxiety and stress that leads to postpartum depression. In this regard, proper understanding and care is needed. It is very important to understand the mood swings of that woman instead of blaming her.
