xQc Willful Disobedience Towards Kick Staff and Policy

He defies the employees and policies of kick in a brazen manner.

xQc is already publicly contradicting Kick staff less than a week after announcing his big deal with the new streaming platform, potentially exposing himself and the firm to legal threats. Recently, he streamed himself viewing the AMC show Breaking Bad, despite the fact that Kick had previously informed him that watching The Dark Knight was in violation of the website’s DMCA policy.

Kick is a livestreaming service that was just recently introducing in December 2022. It was developed as a direct competitor to Twitch, which is owned by Amazon. Adin Ross, BruceDropEmOff, and, more lately, xQc and Amouranth are just a few of the huge names that Kick has successfully persuaded to switch away from the older platform as part of its plan. The multi-million dollar contracts that Kick has signed have been responsible for bringing many of these major personalities aboard. In addition, Kick provides extensive revenue sharing, with the platform collecting only 5% of all revenue generated by users. Furthermore, In comparison, YouTube keeps thirty percent of the revenue generated by livestreams. Moreover, In the meantime, Twitch only recently implemented a 70-30 split, which only applies to certain streams and reverts to a 50-50 share for earnings exceeding $100,000.

Felix “xQc” Lengyel signed a two-year, $70 million contract with Kick last week, with an additional $30 million in potential performance-based bonuses. This makes it one of the most lucrative deals in the entertainment industry and puts it on level with some of the most successful professional sportsmen in the United States. However, xQc is breaking Kick’s DMCA policy by broadcasting himself watching episodes of Breaking Bad, a popular crime drama on AMC. It has only been a few days since Kick requesting that he refrain from watching The Dark Knight due to a violation of DMCA rules.

Millennium Act

The Digital Millennium Copywrite Act, sometimes known as the DMCA. It is a piece of legislation from 1998 that forms the foundation of contemporary copyright law in the United States. Platforms like Kick are shield from legal responsibility under the law in the event that users post anything. This is that violates intellectual property rights. But in addition to that, it necessitates that Kick comply with any takedown demands made by the owner of the copyright. Because of this, many platforms, including Kick, do not permit users to upload or stream content. This is that is protecting by intellectual property rights.

After receiving a communication from Kick’s employees. XQc instantly stopped his Dark Knight stream in order to comply with Kick’s first request concerning copyrighted material. Despite this, just a few days later, he is already back to performing the same thing he was doing before. The individual who used to stream on Twitch stated that he made the switch to Kick. Because it provided him with the opportunity to participate in activities. This is that were unavailable on the other platform. However, Kick still has restrictions and moderation, and regardless of one’s personal opinion on copyright laws. This is not the kind of stuff that a major streaming site wants.

This is also very hazardous behaviour on the part of the former Twitch streamer. This leading some Twitter users to wonder if xQc was trying to get himself suspending. This is on purpose by engaging in these actions. Given the amount of money at stake, the occurrence of this scenario appears quite improbable; nonetheless, it isn’t completely out of the question if xQc is having second thoughts about the deal. On the other hand, that is nothing more than baseless guesswork.
