Vision Loss: What are the Types and Causes of Sudden Loss of Vision

LOSS OF VISION
It may include a complete or a partial loss. It depends upon the causes of loss it may develop with time or it may happen suddenly. In addition, it may occur in one eye or both eyes, and some vision losses are temporary. Approx. 12 M people in U.S. live with vision problems and 1 M people are found blind according to a survey.
TYPES:
There are some different types of visual losses as they have different causes, it includes:
- A general loss in which patient can’t even see anything
- A central loss in which patient can’t see central vision things
- Night blindness, in this person have problem in seeing in dim light
- A peripheral loss, patient have problem in seeing things by the corner of the eyes
- Hazy or a blurry loss, in this a person can’t focus on this the things
In all of this, person also feels difficulty in identifying shapes and shadows.
CAUSES OF SUDDEN LOSS:
It caused by the sudden a few moments or a period. It includes many causes:
- Keratitis
- Migraine
- Eye strain
- Conjunctivitis
- Corneal abrasion
A person should seek a medical help as soon as possible in sudden loss.
CAUSES OF SLOW LOSS:
This loss is may not be sudden always it can develop over time which includes:
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Macular degeneration due to age factor
These are some late reasons for the loss. Medical conditions like diabetes can also be triggering factor for this issue. Patient should seek a medical help on time to avoid any serious issues.
