‘Rocky’ shocked the world with his head-kick knockout in the final stages of the welterweight title fight of UFC. Leon Edwards shocked the world. Edwards’ “Rocky” story came to fruition with his knockout to the head in Round 5 of his event at UFC 278 Main on Saturday night.

 After becoming the first player to take down a near-perfect champion in Round 1, Edwards struggled to build momentum in subsequent rounds. Usman took over the fight with his excellent wrestling and heavy boxing combination, and Anderson came close to his Silva record and seemed on track for his next title defense. 

 Usman’s pace slowed in round 5, but a unanimous decision for the champion was earned as Edwards appeared defeated in his corner as the team asked him to come to life in the final round. Edwards beat Usman and he improved to 20-3 (1 NC). His undefeated streak improved to eleven. Usman quickly went on a 19-game winning streak and suffered his first defeat in nine years. It was his fourth-to-last finish in a championship fight, just seconds behind Usman’s finish at Colby’s Covington in 2019. 

Usman was optimistic about his future. The former champion vowed revenge on Twitter.UFC president Dana White insisted on a trilogy during a press conference after a battle with the media. White suggested Wembley Arena as the venue and expressed a desire to see the rubber match in England. 

  “I thought  Usman put up a perfect fight,” White said. “Think of everything that was at stake for Usman tonight. Usman fought with absolute confidence all night. It may not be the most fan-friendly style, but He had big shots to the body and big shots to the head and elbows. He didn’t fight perfectly until the very end.”
