Manchester United 1–4 March 2009 – Liverpool
Manchester United suffered its worst defeat at Old Trafford in a tournament since Liverpool defeated them 17 years ago.
Although there were several memorable cup matches between the two in the early 2000s, the league didn’t really heat up until 2009.
Ronaldo’s penalty kick gave United an early lead and appeared to put them ten points ahead of second-placed Liverpool.
However, the arrivals quickly reversed the situation with Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard’s camera-kissing antics.
Nemanja Vidic of United was harassed by Torres the whole game, leading to the defender’s dismissal and Fabio Aurelio’s curling free kick. Andrea Dossena then lobbed in a fourth goal late in the game.
Although short-lived, United’s humiliation at Old Trafford was only temporary, as they ended the season four points ahead of Liverpool, who had a record 18 league crowns.

United Manchester 3-2 September 2010, Liverpool
In the 2010–11 campaign, Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez of Manchester City shared the Golden Boot award.
A year later, Manchester United exacted further retribution, largely because to an incredible display from number nine Dimitar Berbatov.
Before the half, the Bulgarian forward scored twice, the second goal being an incredible overhead kick.
But Liverpool responded, with two goals from Gerrard in the space of six minutes, and a headed winner from Berbatov in the 84th minute to complete his hat-trick.

Liverpool defeated Manchester United under David Moyes in the 2013–14 season, but they had trouble the next year.
After replacing Juan Mata at halftime, captain Steven Gerrard was sent off 38 seconds later in a match that featured an incredible scissor kick by the player.
At the beginning of the second half, Gerrard replaced Adam Lallana, and United had taken the lead thanks to an early strike from Mata.
But after stepping on United’s Ander Herrera in midfield, he was gone almost as fast.
In a wild second half, Mata scored a beautiful volley to extend United’s advantage. Daniel Sturridge then scored a goal of consolation, while Wayne Rooney of United saw his late penalty saved by Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool 7-0 Manchester United – March 2023: The Red Devils concluded Louis van Gaal’s first season in command with eight points ahead of Brendan Rodgers’ sixth-placed team.
The Reds’ 7-1 triumph in the 1895–1896 Second Division was surpassed by Liverpool’s 7–0 victory, which was the largest in the history of the match.
In the year 2020, Liverpool defeated United at Anfield 13 months ago thanks to an incredible display that saw Mohamed Salah set a new club record for Premier League goals scored.
