PRESIDENT ANDRES STATEMENT ON TWITTER

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador says via Twitter that the secretary of the navy told him one person was kill in the port city of Manzanillo, Colima when a wall at a mall collapsed.

In Coalcoman, Michoacan, near the quake’s epicenter, buildings were damaging, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

“It start slowly and then was really strong and continued and continued until it starting to relent,” says 16-year-old Carla Cárdenas, a resident of Coalcoman. Cardenas flew out of his family’s hotel and waited with his neighbors. She says cracks were seen in the walls of the hotel and several houses along the street, and part of the facade and roof had been damaging.

“At the hotel, the roof of the parking garage roared and fell to the ground, cracking the wall on the second floor,” Cardenas says.  She says the city’s hospital was badly damaged, but so far no injuries have been hearing.

MEXICO NATIONAL CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY’S STATMENT

Mexico’s National Civil Defense Agency says that base on historical tsunami data in Mexico, up to 82 cm (32 inches) of variation is possible in coastal water levels near the epicenter. The American Tsunami Warning Center said a dangerous coastal tsunami could occur within 186 miles (300 kilometers) of the epicenter.  Mexico City Mayor Claudia Scheinbaum tweeted that there were no reports of damage in the capital.

The new quake alert came less than an hour after quake warnings went off in nationwide earthquake simulations showing severe and deadly quakes that occurred on the same day in 1985 and 2017.

ACCORDING TO PAUL EARLY

It is a “coincidence” that this is her third quake on September 19, the US says. Geological Survey, Paul Earle. “There is no physical reason or statistical bias for any particular lunar quake in Mexico.”

According to Earle, there are no major earthquake seasons or months anywhere in the world. But there are predictable things. Sometimes people look for and find coincidences that look like patterns.

“I knew I was going to get that question soon,” Earl says. “Sometimes there are just coincidences.”

According to Earl, the quake was unrelated to the drill about an hour ago. It was not causing by the drill, and was unrelating to the devastating earthquake in Taiwan the day before.

Humberto GARZA ONE OF THE WITNESS

Holding his 3-year-old son, Humberto Garza stood in front of a restaurant in the Roma district of Mexico City. Garza states that the earthquake alert ringing so soon after the annual simulation. That he was unsure it was real, like many people lingering around outside following the earthquake.

Furthermore, He admits, “I heard the alert. But it seemed pretty far away. Dozens of workers waiting in front of the city’s environmental ombudsman’s office. Some seemed plainly frightened. Parts of the city were without power, including stoplights, which exacerbated the capital’s already renowned traffic problems.
