The Eagles Beat the Bad Houston Texans 29–17

Even though there were hints last season, no one could have predicted this. On Thursday night, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the bad Houston Texans 29–17. This was their eighth straight win of the season. They are still the only team in the NFL without a loss.

The 2022 season was the best start to a season:

With the first 8-0 start, the 2022 season was the best start to a season in the team’s history.

Even though they had a good season last year, no one could have guessed that the Eagles, with an inexperienced quarterback. They have a second-year head coach, who would be in the running for the Super Bowl.

But, against all odds, the Philadelphia Eagles are now, along with the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs, one of the teams most likely to be playing in the NFL’s season finale in February.

So, how did we get here?

The Eagles spent last year putting things back together. The organization went through a big change when starting quarterback Carson Wentz and head coach Doug Pederson left.

Even though those years of figuring out who you are can be hard to watch, Eagles fans had good things to hold on to. 

When Nick Sirianni took over as head coach, he brought a new view from the sidelines. He also brought a new plan to the field.

Since there was no proven quarterback on the team, it was up to 2020 second-round draught pick Jalen Hurts, who was a star at Oklahoma, to lead the team.

Hurts didn’t play much in his first year as a quarterback, and when he did, it didn’t go well. He showed the kind of naivety that many first-year quarterbacks do.

But with Sirianni, rookie wide receiver DeVonta Smith, dynamic running back Miles Sanders, and one of the best offensive lines in the league, the Eagles showed signs of a quick retooling.

After a slow start to the season, the offense picked up as the games went on. In the end, the team had an 8-7 record. It to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the playoffs.

Even though the season ended badly, there were good signs for the team that won the Super Bowl in 2017.

And, knowing that the team’s foundations were set, Philadelphia’s front office did everything it could over the offseason to make the team better.

The team added key players:

The defense already had a lot of talent, but the team added key players like Haason Reddick, James Bradberry, C. J. Gardner-Johnson, and Robert Quinn right before the trade deadline to make a dangerous group of defenders for other teams.

The offense got a big boost when the team traded for Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown, who had already learned the system.

But even with all of these additions, the team’s start has surprised everyone.

The team has won all eight of its regular-season games. Moreover, Hurts became a Pro Bowl quarterback after he started working well with Brown. Through nine weeks of the NFL season, Brown has scored five touchdowns in his last three games. Hurts and Brown have become a deadly duo.

Hurts has gone from a promising quarterback to one of the best in the league in a very short amount of time. After Thursday’s game, Lovie Smith, the head coach of the Texans, said that the 24-year-old was an “outstanding player.”

Smith told reporters, “I think he’s improved more, maybe more than any other player in the NFL.”

The team has developed a dangerous passing attack:

The best thing about the team has been how well they work together. Even though the team has developed a dangerous passing attack, Hurts’ speed and agility with his legs have kept them a strong running team, making them at times almost impossible to stop.

Hurts didn’t want to get ahead of himself after Thursday’s win over the Texans and a franchise-best start to the season.

Hurts has thrown at least two touchdowns in each of the last three games. He told reporters, “I know it’s important for the city of Philadelphia.”

“I mean, I lost the national championship when I was 8-0. Just take it one step at a time. So far, we haven’t done anything. Every day, we try to take care of the things we can, play to our standards, and try to get better. I think that’s really the point”.

After getting off to such a good start, many people think the Eagles will win the NFC conference and compete in Super Bowl LVII in Arizona.

And since many of the NFC’s big teams are having a bad year—the Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Green Bay Packers are all having rough starts to the season—Philadelphia has the best chance to get a first-round bye in the playoffs in January.

And when Hurts comes back to the City of Brotherly Love, he will be showered with love as the Eagles keep trying to win their second Super Bowl.
