According to a statement released by Everton, Duncan Ferguson has parted ways with the club to seek management opportunities elsewhere.

The former captain of the Toffees is departing Goodison Park after serving as a backroom assistant for a number of different managers during his time there. Additionally, Scot was a caretaker boss for two separate times.

Ferguson shared his thoughts on the matter with evertontv, saying, “It was a monumental choice for me, a very challenging one, but I have to go on, take the next step in my career, and seek this new challenge”.  My experience as a caretaker has equipped me with the self-assurance necessary to pursue a career in management.

Duncan Ferguson, a club legend and Everton’s former first-team manager, has resigned from his role with the club.

Ferguson played for Everton on three separate occasions:

As a footballer, Ferguson played for Everton on three separate occasions. The first time as a loanee in 1994, followed by a permanent signing later that year and a stay at Goodison Park that lasted until 1998.

Additionally, the forward brought his playing career to a close with the Toffees, having represented the club between the years 2000 and 2006.

In February of 2014, Ferguson was given a position on the coaching staff for Everton’s first-team squad.

He assumed leadership of the squad after Marco Silva was fired:

In 2019, he assumed leadership of the squad after Marco Silva was fired. Then, he did so again earlier this year when Rafa Benitez was terminated from his position as manager.

During his stay at Everton, Ferguson has filled in as the club’s caretaker manager on two separate occasions.

Paul Clement, Ashley Cole, and Joe Edwards are members of the coaching staff of Everton. It is led by Frank Lampard.

It was claimed late last month that Carlo Ancelotti, who had worked with Ferguson while he was at Everton, recommended the 50-year-old for the position at Blackburn Rovers. Ferguson is currently the manager of Blackburn Rovers.

However, Blackburn chose Jon Dahl Tomasson as the new director in the end.
