Adams’s comments came one day after McDaniels had said that Carr would not start the games.
Adams cited Derek Carr, his old college teammate at Fresno State, as the key motivation for his desire for the Green Bay Packers to trade him to the Las Vegas Raiders in an Instagram post. Derek Carr played for Fresno State.
“This individual gave up all he had. The reason I’m a Raider is that “Adams was the author. “…One of the most self-controlled and kind-hearted persons I know. I managed to get my buddies back through whatever it was.”
Adams added an emoji of a middle finger to his post, implying that he was pointing the finger at anybody who “can’t respect it.”

Adams was selected for the All-Pro team twice and the Pro Bowl six times before being transferred to Las Vegas on March 17. Prior to then, Adams had spent the first eight years of his career playing for Green Bay. After being traded to the Raiders in exchange for a first- and a second-round selection in 2022, he promptly signed a five-year agreement with Las Vegas for a total of $140 million, which will keep him with the team until the 2026 season.

McDaniels said on Wednesday that the Raiders are eager to assess Jarett Stidham and discussed plans for the Raiders’ last two games, which include designating Derek Carr inactive on game day. Chase Garbers is going to be the team’s backup quarterback.
Multiple news agencies reported later on Wednesday that Carr had asked for and received permission to take a leave of absence from the team in order to avoid being a source of distraction. According to a report by NFL Network, Carr will not participate in practice and his absence would be classified as “not injury related.”
Derek Carr contract

Derek Carr, who is now 31 years old, agreed to terms of a long-term contract before the start of the season that included injury guarantees totaling $40.5 million. The guarantee becomes effective on February 15, which is specified in his contract as occurring “three days after the Super Bowl.”
Derek Carrbnow leads the NFL with 14 interceptions, including nine in the last five games he’s played. During Saturday’s defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 13-10, he committed three turnovers that resulted in interceptions.
In April, Derek Carr extended his contract for an additional three years at a cost of $121.5 million, bringing the total length of his deal to 2025. If the Raiders were to trade or release Carr before the cutoff date on which his roster position guarantees the remaining two years of his pact, the Raiders would save $29.25 million. Carr’s current contract does, in fact, have a no-trade provision.
Derek Carr has been selected for the Pro Bowl three times, and during this season he has completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 3,522 yards and 24 touchdowns in 15 games.
