Christian Mccaffrey: The 49ERS Acquires in the Trade

 

Trading The Panthers might not benefit from Christian McCaffrey today, but that wasn’t the point of this transaction. This action referred to a situation in which it might matter even more.

THE 49ERS ACQUIRE CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY IN A TRADE.

The Carolina Panthers informed the San Francisco 49ers that they had traded for running back Christian McCaffrey for picks in the second, third, and fourth rounds of 2023 and a choice in the fifth round of 2024. McCaffrey is a two-time Associate Press All-Pro. McCaffrey (5-11, 205) was choosing by the Panthers in the eighth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He performed in 64 games (58 starts) during his six NFL seasons with Carolina (2017–22) and racked up 866 carries for 3,980 yards (a 4.6 average) and 32 touchdowns on the ground in addition to 390 receptions for 3,292 yards (an 8.4 average) and 18 scores in the air. A postseason game in which he started ended with him finishing with six carries for 16 yards and six receptions for 101 receiving yards.

In 2019, McCaffrey start every game, finish with 287 carries for 1,387 yards and 116 receptions for 1,005 yards receiving, and was name to the Association Press First-Team All-Pro at two positions (flex and running back). He also received Pro Bowl recognition. He surpassing his previous performance of 107 catches in 2018, a season in which he was name to the AP Second-Team All-Pro, to set a record for the most receptions by a running back in a single season in NFL history.

Carriers:

McCaffrey has accumulated 85 carries for 393 yards and two touchdowns along with 33 receptions for 277 yards. Also one touchdown this season while starting six games for Carolina. His 670 yards from scrimmage in 2022 were fourth-best in the NFL.

McCaffrey, a 26-year-old Highlands Ranch, Colorado native, played at Stanford University, where he started 25 of 38 games and amassed 6,987 all-purpose 33 touchdowns and 73 yards. 99 receptions for 1,206 yards and 10 touchdowns totaled by him in addition to 3,922 yards. Also 21 touchdowns on the ground (632 carries, 6.2 average). He was a Heisman Finalist and AP Player of the Year in 2015 as a sophomore after breaking the NCAA record with 3,864 all-purpose yards.
