The news that Blake Shelton would be quitting “The Voice” following its upcoming 23rd season shocked fans of the singing competition program.

Blake Shelton declares his departure from “The Voice” following its 23rd season.

The popular country singer announced in a statement on Tuesday that the spring 2023 season would be his last.

“I’ve been debating this for a while, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I should leave ‘The Voice’ after Season 23,’ he stated. This show has improved every aspect of my life, and will always seem like house to me. It’s been a rollercoaster of a trip over the past 12 years of chair turns, and I wish to thank everyone at NBC’s “The Voice,” including the writers, musicians, crew, and caterers. You are the greatest.

He made light of the fact that it requires a lot of “adult beverages” to properly tape two live performances each week.

“I’ve established lasting friendships with Carson or every single one of my fellow coaches throughout the years, particularly my wife, Gwen Stefani!” Shelton concluded. I have to thank the performers — the ‘Voices’ — who come on this floor year after year and astound us with their skill, as well as those who picked myself to be their coach.”

“Lastly, it’s about y’all, the fans, who follow and support these performers, our coaches, and everyone at ‘The Voice’ chasing their goals,” he said at the conclusion of his announcement. It wouldn’t be possible without you!”

“The Voice” is presently in its 22nd season, with Camila Cabello, John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and Blake Shelton serving as coaches.

The “Neon Light” performer has been a coach on the show since it debuted in 2011, alongside Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green.

Carson Daly, the show’s host, had remained by Shelton’s side the entire time. Daly will back for Season 23 as well, according to the press release.

Kelly Clarkson, who started coaching in Season 14 and winning the most popular show in December 2021 with the trio Girl Named Tom, will reconnect with Shelton for the upcoming spring season.

Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan, two new coaches, will work with Shelton and Clarkson in the upcoming season, according to the press release.
