Anime Review: “The Promised Neverland”

Introduction:anime

‘The Promised Neverland ‘, the anime which messed up everyone’s minds after watching it, the anime which had a disappointing second season which made the manga reader outrage because of all the prime parts cut out.
The author of ‘The Promised Neverland ‘ manga Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from August 2016 to June 2020. Total 181 chapters, it was a big hit for that reason it got an anime adaptation animated by ‘CloverWorks’.

Story

The year is 2045 which is after 1000 years when ‘The promise’ was made between the demons and humans to end the war. They agreed on two separate worlds, one for the demons and one for the humans so that the demons can stop eating the human. The demons did that so if they ate a creature they would take on their attributes. This subsequently means eating a human would prevent them from being mindless monsters.
The demons then make human farms where children are taken care of just to be eaten at a certain age. This is explicitly done to maintain their form.

Basic Idea Behind This Anime:

The anime is about three gifted children, they live in an orphanage(a human farm) along with other children of different ages where they get sold off to demons as ‘high grade’ meat to the high leveled demons. One night two of the kids ‘Emma’ and ‘Norman’ find out about the disgusting reality. They somehow make plans with ‘Ray’ who already knew about the secret as he remembered everything from his birth. They make plans for their freedom and not let anyone else die as they had a really strong bond.

My Opinion:

The manga in my opinion is a work of art, the strong story and the unique art style kept me reading all of it multiple times. Just the concept of demons and humans is really interesting to me and I am sure to everyone as well.
All the characters have likable personalities with amazing character development.

My Final Review:

I recommend only reading the manga than watching the anime. The reason is to shorten the anime they removed a lot of amazing arcs. These arcs were significant in the manga. For example ‘the Goldy Pound arc is personally my favorite which I was devastated that it would not be included.
However, if you are interested in the ‘Dark Fantasy’ or ‘Science Fiction’ genre then add it to your reading list.
