Sarah Huckabee Releases From Hospital After Thyroid Surgery

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a Republican candidate for governor of Arkansas, was released from the hospital on Saturday after undergoing thyroid cancer surgery.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders Has Been Releasing From the Hospital Following Cancer Surgery
Former White House press secretary Huckabee Sanders uploaded a photo of herself riding home from the hospital with her husband.
Sanders’ spokesman, Judd Deere, also announced the news on Twitter on Saturday morning.
“Sarah was discharging from an Arkansas hospital today, cancer free, following successful surgery on Friday to remove her thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes,” Deere wrote in a statement.
“On our way home from the hospital – cancer free,” she remarked on Facebook. “Words cannot convey how grateful we are for all of your love, prayers, and support!”
“After a successful operation on Friday to remove her thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes, Sarah was discharging from an Arkansas hospital cancer-free,” says Sanders spokeswoman Judd Deere. “She will spend the remainder of her rehabilitation at home.”
Sanders said Friday, upon announcing the operation, that a biopsy earlier this month found she had thyroid cancer.
Dr. John R. Sims, a surgeon at CARTI Cancer Center in Little Rock and one of Sanders’ doctors, said Sanders. Cancer was a stage Thyroid cancer, most often papillary thyroid carcinoma, type 1., and that she had a “excellent” prognosis.
Sanders, according to Sims, will require adjuvant radioactive iodine treatment as well as long-term follow-up care.
Sanders, who served as former President Donald Trump’s spokesman until 2019, is running against Democratic nominee Chris Jones. She is the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
Jones and his wife, Jerrilyn, issued a statement on Friday stating their family was thinking of Sanders and praying for her.
Sanders is widely expecting to win the post presently holding by Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who is leaving office in January owing to term restrictions. She has campaigned mostly on national issues in Arkansas, promising to use the governorship to combat President Joe Biden and the “radical left.”
