The first-ever Asian actor to win the Emmy for best male actor in a drama, “Squid Game” star Lee Jung-Jae made history when he took home the Emmy Awards 2022.

In the critically acclaimed show on Netflix, he portrayed the lead character, Seong Gi-hun. He showed increasing signs of desperation throughout the series. The director of the show, Hwang Dong-hyuk, was honored with the award for best director of a drama series. He was the first Asian person to accomplish this.

The comedy series Ted Lasso was crowned the winner of the award for best comedy series for the second year running. It’s the second year in a row that Succession has taken home the trophy for best drama.

Following this, Armstrong stated, “I’m not arguing that we have a better right to be where we are than he has. We’ll however let other people decide that.”

Best Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Comedic Role:

The new movie Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary that takes place in an American elementary school. Sheryl Lee Ralph’s victory for best-supporting actress in a comedy helped raise the popularity of the film. This film was released earlier this year. She is exclusively the first black actress since 1987 to win in this category. It is for her role as the stern instructor Barbara Howard. Moreover, she won the award for best actress overall.

After she was presented with her prize, she gave an impassioned statement. Subsequently, there she sang the opening few verses of Endangered Species by Dianne Reeves. She said, “This is what it looks like to believe.”

Her co-star and the creator of the show, Quinta Brunson, ended up taking home the prize for best comedy series writing. However, her acceptance speech was slightly overshadowed by talk show presenter Jimmy Kimmel lying down on the platform after he lost a prior prize. This was done in an attempt to make the audience laugh.
