Taylor Swift Jury Trial of “Shake it Off” Copyrights
Taylor Swift once again is in limelight, with a case of the copyright issue song” Shake It Off”. Hall and Butler accused Taylor of copying their song, which they wrote for defunct girl 3LW in 2001.
The judge, Billboard claims that one can see the difference between the songs, but if we notice the words, there are too mush similarities Mostly, the words are very similar in structure and usage. The main sequence they found similar was “playas, they gon’ play” by 3LW song and “’cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play” of Swift’s song.
Taylor Swift’s Copyright Case in 2018:
Though the case was dismissed in 2018, in Oct 2019, a federal court revised the case. The appeal was from Playas Gon’ Play songwriter Sean Hall and Nathan Butler. One of Swift’s Defendant claimed, that “players” and “haters” are just common words. Thus, they are no longer to claim these as their creation.
Copyright Case in 2013:
Swift also faced such a case of song copyrights earlier in 2015. This time Jessie Braham accused her of copying his song “Haters Gonna Hate” 2013. However, due to insufficient pieces of evidence, he faced dismissal of his case.

Swift also faced an accusation from an African fashion showroom of copying their logo in July 2020. The founder of the showroom, Amira Rasool bashed Swift and her team on Instagram.
